Venus Flytrap

This page is all about my first ever Venus Flytrap plant (affectionately named Shyamlal – don’t ask why the name, it’s just a name after all..).

Purchase and Initial History

I purchased the plant out of our local Home Depot on Saturday July 9th and have had moved it to a a proper clay pot with a peat moss and perlite base. I have fed it two live flies as it’s first meal. With some dirt clasped in one of it’s leaves I am hoping that after 10 days it spits out carcass for both the flies and the dirt. Below will be the periodic updates for the plant.

The fly can be seen trapped in the rightmost leaf pod. The 2nd from the left has dirt in it.

From a few traps to a few more. I learned that it needs to have a bit more of water than what I used to give.
